A Peek Inside Our Spring Busy Season “Stress Busters”

While our firm has several busy deadlines throughout the year, the April 15th tax deadline is the one most people recognize. It’s not the only hectic season we experience at SDK, but it’s certainly a major one, so we make it a priority to ensure our team has the support they need to succeed for our clients. Now that the spring busy season is behind us (cue the collective exhale!), we’re taking a moment to reflect, but not just on the returns we filed and the numbers we crunched, also on the laughter, connection, and creativity that helped us get through it. We call these moments “Stress Busters,” and here’s a glimpse at some of the fun we had this season.

Minute to Win It Madness

Sometimes you just need 60 seconds of fun to turn your day around. From rubber band target practice to toilet paper horse racing, our Minute to Win It challenges had everyone laughing, cheering, and even getting a little competitive. Each week there was a new challenge and the winners from the previous week were whittled down until there was a champion crowned on April 15th. The overall winner gets their name etched on the Minute to Win It trophy and has bragging rights until the next year’s challenges begin. These quick games were a perfect way to reset during the workday and bring some energy to the grind.

Games Over Lunch

Sometimes you just need a good round of “Family Feud: Coworker Edition” or “Name that Tune” to infuse a little fun into your day. Participants joined both in-person and over Teams to compete against each other and have some laughs.

Snack Attacks (The Good Kind)

Busy season calories don’t count, right? Our awesome HR Director, Tiffany Hand, made sure to bring in amazing treats throughout the season to keep everyone fueled and firing on all cylinders. Think a variety of pies on Pi Day (March 14th) and ice cream sundaes with all the fixings. It’s amazing what a well-timed cookie can do for morale!

BINGO Bonanza

Everyone loves a good game of BINGO, especially when there are prizes involved! We put a busy season twist on the classic game with squares inspired by SDKers favorite things. From original BINGO to coverall, games continued daily with clues sent a few times a day over email. Now those are emails anyone would be excited to see!

The Grand Finale: Busy Season Celebration Party

When the last return was filed and the final e-signature clicked in, we wrapped it all up with a celebration worthy of the season’s effort. Music, food, toasts, and plenty of well-earned downtime gave our team the chance to unwind and reflect on a job well done.

These stress-busting moments weren’t just for fun (though they were a blast), they were a key part of supporting the team’s well-being and keeping our culture strong through the busiest time of year.

To our clients: thank you for trusting us through another successful season. And to the amazing SDK team: you crushed it.
