Cool Activities for Hot Days

The temperatures are soaring and the humidity is rising. While summer provides us with a lot of opportunities to enjoy the weather, there are some days that are downright stifling. When the heat index rises, it is good to have some options for activities to help you stay cool. Read below for some ideas of ways to stay cool even on the hottest of days.

Get out on the water. Many locations with lakes offer rentals of paddleboards, kayaks, or other personal watercraft. If you are new to the sport some locations will also offer lessons to get you started. While the goal with many of these sports is to stay on the watercraft, taking a quick dip every once in a while will keep you cool as you play.

Cool down from the inside out. Is there anything better than ice cream on a hot summer day? Probably a personal preference, but we say no! Find a local ice cream parlor and enjoy a sweet treat that will take you back in time and take your temperature down with it.

Catch the latest flick. While we like to enjoy time outside as much as possible, sometimes you just need a blast of A/C to cool off for a few hours. Some of the best places to do that are movie theaters. Check your local listing to see if there are any matinees of a new movie and you may be able to save a few bucks while you beat the heat!

Suds up the SUV. While it may sound like a lot of work to take on when it is hot out, washing the car provides you a chance to splash in the hose a little bit while you get the job done. Short of setting up the sprinkler and jumping through, this may be the easiest way to get your water games on while checking things off the chore list.

Bring out the balloons. In a throwback to childhood, get everyone together for a good old fashioned water balloon fight! Luckily for the environment, technology has advanced to the point of refillable/reusable water balloons! You can find these nifty creations on Amazon or make some of your own with the pattern here.

Have a snowball fight. It might seem like this suggestion is on the wrong list, however, if you have a shaved ice machine, you are in business. Shave up some ice, pack it into balls, and head outside for some fun. The best part is that there are no losers because even getting hit cools you off, which is a win in this case!
